ive seen before and after dynos. you will be losing midrange but gaining top end. so altogether, with a 6,500 redline, you will see a difference of about 1hp. the only way the mevi can be taken full advantage of is with the extended redline.

Read the MEVI FAQ... it's got a lot of info in there. I've got one on my 99. Basically you shift the powerband from low-end/midrange to midrange/top-end. You'll be slower than a non-MEVI at low speeds, catch up in a 1/4 mile, then be faster.
Personally I am very happy with mine. While it's a tad bit slower 0-60, it really changes the feel of the engine. Instead of power surges you get a smooth revving engine that flies all the way up to the redline. You're no longer disappointed when you hit ~5500 RPM or so, and downshifting to pass someone or merging onto the highway is much more satisfying.
All that being said, I'd probably put it towards the bottom of the list of things to get. Make sure you have an intake, y-pipe, suspension and whatnot before you get yourself a MEVI.
