Over Drive On Or Off
Over Drive On Or Off
What Is The Difference Between Over Drive On Or Off For Some Reason I Like To Drive With Off I Think It Gives Me More Power Is It Bad To Drive My Car With Over Drive Off How Fast Can I Go With Over Drive Off
Your just turning 4th gear off, not allowing the tranny to shift into 4th so you stay in 3rd, thus the feeling of increased power... once your in 4th at a low speed it feels like a turtle, and waiting for it to downshift might not be an option one day =\
I drive with OD/OFF at speeds 40 and under...

Turning OD off locks out 4th gear. If you're in stop and go traffic or driving under 50mph, turning OD off will result in a smoother ride as the automatic transmission doesn't have to search for fourth gear. First and second gears will both feel a little more powerful (more torque-y) however, all is not roses and rainbows. Your gas mileage may suffer.

Use some punctuation.
But other than that, you will not hurt anything unless you go above speeds of like 55-60 like stated above. If I had an auto, I would probably just leave it on, because all you have to do is just push in the pedal a little more to get it to downshift. Rather than wearing out the button.
If I was passing someone on the highway, I would turn the OD off though, so that I didn't have to gouge so deeply into the pedal. Soon thereafter, I would put it right back on though. Might help save some gas mileage.
