KS, Wow
KS, Wow
I did some work over the past two days.
I changed the spark plugs and replaced my air filter with K&N.
Results were, eh, okay I guess.
It wasn't bad at least.
The only difference is see is my brain thinking, "you're breathing better... and sparking better..."
I changed my KS today and did an oil change while I was at it.
And BHAM! DIFFERENCE. I can't pinpoint it very well.
I wasn't able to test drive it too much.
But my BUTT DYNO is definately feeling it!
Throttle response is snappy at lower rpm's and it seems I've gained more power
throughout the band.
Needless to say, I'm very happy.
The install could've been better tho.
I have one of those retracable magnets, so removing the ks wasn't to bad with the extensions and such.
Getting it back on was a different story.
My hands couldn't fit so I have to fish the KS back on correctly.
ANYWAY, I just wanted to share the method I used.
Since I couldn't fit my hand in the "valley," I needed to fish.
And since fishing is hard if you had to place the KS and then place the screw on it, I had to somehow place the screw and the ks togther.
I put the screw in a 12mm socket, connected to a U-joint, then to a 10" extension.
Then I placed the ks on the screw. Then, I cut some electric tape and tapped the ks and the socket together with the screw in place... just enough to keep things together.
Then I fished for the hole with the entire setup.
After tightening the bolt, I wiggled the socket a bit and the socket came off the KS, but the socket also came of the u joint. But that wasn't a problem, I used my magnet rod to fish for the socket.
Anyway.
That's way I did.
I'm happy.
You guys should definately replace your KS if it's gone bad. You're missing out on the REAL VQ Power.

Yep - the electrical tape works well, doesn't it?
That was the only way I could get it to line up on the 3 I've done so far. (Luckily none of the three were on MY car!)
Here is a pic of one of the KS'es I removed:

The guy overheated so bad that it did that - but the engine still after a year runs great. If I'd ever done that to my Chevy 3.8l I used to have, the engine would have been toast.
(Sorry for going OT)
Anyway - good job!
