springs without struts

hey im jus curious what would happen if i put on springs without upgrading struts? The struts would blow rite, causing the car to have a even better drop? im thinkin about the maxspeeds or the eibachs with the stock struts for now.

I bought some stock SE struts all 4 for $18.00 from an online member who took them off his 1999 Maxima at 18,000 miles I installed them w/my Max Speed springs and I blew the rear struts in two days, all the oil leaked out, I then went on Ebay to find some replacement rear struts I ended up getting some brand new KYB GR-2’s for $56.00 and I installed them recently! I am currently running the stock SE struts in the front and they are fine! When/if they blow I will replace them w/KYB GR-2’s.

How long have you had your ground controls on there? My stock struts lasted a month with Maxspeeds on the same rough pittsburgh roads as you. I'm getting KYB GR-2s to replace them.

It rode like crap with the stockers, I didn't really have a problem with it (I'm also 17), but I wish I had just done everything at once.

What I meant was that it rides like crap with the stock struts and maxspeeds. It is much rougher than stock struts and springs but handles much better. Part of my bad ride is because the struts weren't in the best shape when I put the springs on them and the roads around here are horrible. It should ride a little better and handle better when I get the GR-2s but still won't be as smooth as all stock was.

The pics don't really show it well, but it is dropped 1.5" or so. It's a lot more noticeable in person, but still most people who don't drive maximas probably wouldn't know that it was dropped.

blown struts won't affect the ride height, the springs are the only thing that affect the ride height...the only thing blown struts will bring is an uncomfortable, embarassing, bouncy, sea-sick like ride...and i don't think you'd look too "pimp" with that set up. i used to have stock struts and dropzones, they blew in the rear pretty much immediately, so i upgraded to sprints and tockico blues, it's a bit of a firm ride, but nothing i couldn't get used to, and it's much much better.

I've had my i30 lowered with B&G's on stock struts for about 5 weeks now. I can't tell if they are blow or not but it rides great. It is a little bouncy sometimes but not noticable on the plush i30, most think it's just the plushness of the ride. Go ahead with stockers. Eventually I'm probably also gonna get some KYB's or Tokico Blues, but i more the satisfied right now. BTW, I live in suburbs of seattle with good roads.
