I have a clunk noise while steering sometimes, i dont know what it is. I was told it might a bad bushing, tie rods or rack and pinion..... Does anyone know how i can check to make sure, cant afford to make unnecessary repairs. Also, if anyone knows whether a 5th gen rack and pinion fits a 4th let me know.
do you have lowered suspension?
sounds like the upper strut bearings are/were either crushed or dried out. There is a writeup here http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/703

yes i have lowered suspension and its not the bearings. I know about the bearing and they make a creaky wood floor sound, not really what im talking about. What im talking about is coming from somewhere down lower.

How old are your axles? If they haven't been replaced, you might want to check your cv boots for tears.Originally Posted by Certified Beast

I have a similar problem as well. I here a clunking noise on the lower front passenger side. It gets really loud when I turn right.

You should check for tears as well. A good tell tale sign that your boots are torn would be a lot of thick black oil like crud all over the boot and steering knuckle thingy. Just look behind the wheels in question….or hey better yet go to the sight someone already posted. Try this link thoughOriginally Posted by PharoNDmist

Thanks. It started making that nosie when I went over a small bump then I heard something pop on the right side then it statred clunking. The car pulls slighty right and gives me some resistence turning left.

Under circumstances like that, you could have a number things going on. The cv boot check however is a quick and easy thing to asses, so I'd probably start there. If they look ok, you may have something else happening. Good luck
