Correct Jack points

After attempting to jack my car last night...and having my jack give way and having my max drop a 1/4 inch right on the jack stand...landed perfectly...god knows how...

I was scared ****less...not only for my max but for my life, more for the max tho...lol

anyways, after this nice little misshap, i was shaken up...and i started questioning my jack points...maybe that was the reason for a 2 ton jack to break on my a$$?!?!

can someone maybe take some pics of the undercarrage and their jack points as well as were they place their jack stands? this would be really helpfull and it might allow me to get a lil more courage to actually go under my car again to finish my damn oil-change...

Please dont just tell me were in the undercarage to put it...im really not very car literate and im still learning so i wouldnt really know if you tell me where, a pic would do great maybe next time i wont get scared to death, or get killed...

To raise the car I USED to(can't since the drop) use the point in the front of the car. Get in front of the car and look under it, there is a bump sticking out from the beam running along the y-pipe. Put your stands on the side rails, between the 2 notches on each side. Be carefull though cause when you allign the jacks to the notches and you start to lower the car it shifts positions and you have to check it right before it rests on the stands. For the rear you have to use the BEAM, thing running from wheel to wheel. Problem is that it's kinda wide with a hollow middle so put a wood block on the jack to raise it evenly. I have 2 jacks so I lift the side until I can slide the jack with the bock under it. Again for the stands use the tab between the notches on the sides. There are pics in the 5th gen how-to's.

use the torque boxes, thats what theyre there for. thats what you plant on for a hydraulic lift and pull points for a frame rack. those are built to withstand tons of pressure. look for the small squares, about 1.5", along the side of the unibody.

ANother thing to consider is investing in Jack Stands. After you get the car jacked up, simply slide the jackstand in said key points. Or keep the jacks and the jackstands in there just to be super safe.

unless your dropped u don't have to jack your car up to just change your oil, just turn your wheel all the way to the right and u can get to the drain and filter easily.

"Garage jack points" (outer ones) is where you use the jack to raise the car. The 4 circles in the middle is where you place the jack stands

Owner's manual tells you where jack points are. From what people have said this is also where you can plact jack stands, but I am not sure. The diagram in the last post shows the 4 in between the front and rear wheels.

That picture shows to use the little lips (where you use an emergency tire changing jack to lift the car) to hold the jack stands, right?

In regards to lift points I've found that the "hump" near the front is too low down to fit my jack. On both of my maximas I've moved forwards to where those two bolts are (they are about 1-2 inches higher), and I jack fro there. Unfortunately they're close together enough that the jack ends up having bent, on both cars, the lip of one of the bolts. The bolt itself is still there and nice and straight, but its lip is bent. When do these bolts ever come undone? When you have to remove the engine or tranny only...?

this is helpfull. thanks alot...

BTW in that pic of the front jack point... i am using a friends jack that has a really big head or lifting platform...a circle about the size of my head.. what i am doing and lining it up more towards the center of that bar that runs towards the back of the car, instead of jacking if up on the lil bump that is circled...is that ok?

Like others I've used the front hump thing and the center of the rear beam axle. I have to drive the car up on wooden blocks to jack up the front since it's too low.
