Replacing axles. Do I have to remove Gear Indicator Switch?
Im about to tackle this job this weekend and have been reading up on specifics at Motorvate while comparing them to the instructions in my Haynes manual. For the most part everything is pretty straight forward with the manual Omitting things which are thankfully explained at motorvate. Only prob/diff I found is the mention of a "Gear Indicator Switch" at Motorvate:

The manual doesn't mention it at all, so my question is: Is this part something you find only on Manuals and if it's not, (Im auto) does it really need to be removed for Axle installation?
Thanks in Advance.

you shouldnt have to. In the pics at motorvate they just take this out and all the fluid is comming out the switch hole. Its not even close to the axle, it just looks like a quick way to drain the fluid so not so much comes out when you take out the axle.

motorvate says to drain the gear oil via that switch. If you're drain plug is fine (mine was stripped!), you don't have to touch the switch.
It does drain faster through the switch, but you risk damaging the o-ring.
