i want everyones opinion

i found a 1997 Maxima Se with 91,000 miles on it, it has pretty much all the bells and whistles on it, there asking for 7900. What do u think about it?, my dad is just a little unsure due to the fact it has nearly 100,000miles...feed back would be greatly appreciated.

check the value on www.nada.com, or www.kbb.com, those places will be your best bet...if I'm guessing right...the price sounds good, but only if the car is in excellent condition

I'll be honest with you, $7900 for a nearly 8 year-old Maxima with approx 100k miles is too much IMO. I know for sure that you can find a better deal, much better. Don't give up, be patient, and keep looking.

NOTE: when looking at a car you're unsure about, DON'T BUY IT!

i bought my 97 SE 130K miles on it for 4000. We bargained him a LOT becuase it was supposed to go for 5000. But yours is about 40k miles less, and 3k more, id say its aobut right, try to get it for a bit lower....

Try to get it down to $6500, but I wouldn't pay more than $7000. If it's an automatic then expect a tranny rebuilding in the future.

Check the car closely before you buy because repair costs add up... You don't want to buy it and then end up paying another $1000+ on suspension, tires, brakes, etc. after a week or so.

Nissan has a free 100-point inspection in April, take the car there before you buy it

i want to say wait a couple of more cars but i have no room to speak. I got my 97 se 5spd with 110k for $6,500. I felt that we paid a little too much for the max but i wanted so bad. Don't let impatience rule you.

If i were you, try to haggle and talk the guy down a couple of thousand. If not (i know it's gonna be hard), go with something a little less expensive or lower miles.

That's good. Just remember, the more money you save the more mods you can buy

www.nada.com and www.kbb.com are crap!
Don't use them!
The dealers use them because they jack up the price, but if you were to trade, they sure wouldn't give what either of those books say. They want the best of both ends, I know, I used to work at a dealership selling cars.

Use www.edmunds.com to find out. Put everythng in for the used cars, and the price you should be willing to pay is somewhere between the trade-in value and the full retail value. Where that is, is between you and the seller. Whereever you can become agreeable, and you can both be happy with the deal. He needs to not take a loss, but you need to get a good deal too.

That sounds a little high.

I would recommend that you get a 5spd, esp if you are going to mod at all.

Well, the reason I didn't mention edmunds is the fact that they base the price on location and the color of the vehicle, and other factors. I believe that is crap...the other reason I didn't like edmunds is because it gave me the lowest value on my car when I was planning on selling it.

That's why it's good when you're buying a car

If you look at CarMax, they always show the KBB price which is too high (lol - they never got back to me with the Edmunds.com price )... I remember seeing an Accord for $15k with like 28k miles, but a new Accord was selling at $18k at the dealer
