cutting Stock shifter? good/bad?

cutting Stock shifter? good/bad?

i was thinkin about it and i really dislike how long the stock shifters are on the maximas....i was thinkin bout buyin a short shifter or cuttin an inch or so off my stock shifter? any suggestions....if i cut my stock one i plan on buyin a new **** for it.....what do u guys think? anyone with pics of their shortened stock shifter?

Cutting the stock shifter will definitly make it look better, but it will not work the same as a short throw shifter. This mod is for looks only....

Here's a pic of my cut shifter and carbon fiber Momo, can't say wether it shifts as good as an aftermarket, but I do know it shifts just fine with a shorter throw so that's got be better! It doesn't make the car any faster though! What's up with that! Definitely looks better and easy to do.

i heard if u cut it too short it actually makes the shifting worse? am i right? and if i do cut it can i buy any type of **** that uses alley wrenches to put it on? cuz i kno the threads on the stock shifter obviously wont be there anymore

If it's too short, blood loss may occur from wrapping your knuckles! I am totally happy with mine, cut it three times bit by bit til it felt just so. That's all up to you. As far as I know 99.9% of after market ***** are threadless attaching by allen screws.

Theres a few pics of my cut stock shifter on my cardomain. I cut 1.5in off and put a Momo sphere **** on it. It feels a lot better then stock and I dont think the shifting got any worse.
