Seems a little high. There should be some 2001, etc Maximas coming off lease soon that should be lowering older maxima values. Plus, lots of Maximas 97-99 are in the 80K mile range for around 8 grand. Sure that 99 is loaded, with 5 speed and has low miles, but it is priced at a premium. I think it would be tough to resell for near that money if you were forced to sell it soon after buying it. I'd keep looking.
I disagree. I used to sell cars, and you are both newbs.
Here is what Edmund's says...They are usually right on, whereas www.kbb.com is c r a p!

You ought to be able to get it anywhere between trade in($9,370) and full retail($12,708). Now, where inbetween there is up to you and where you and the seller can become agreeable. I would shoot for dead in the center of the two...that gives him a good deal and you get a good deal too. You cannot expect him to make no money on it, but at the same time, you want to get a good deal for yourself....dead in the center would be Private party value of about $11,000. That would be a fair price to offer, and for him to still make some.
If it is as clean as you say it is, you should not mind.
That is really low mileage for that year....it is now 5 car models old. I have a 99 with 90k on it.

Use Edmunds.com, kbb.com
I wouldnt give him 12k. The dude is trying to make obvious profit off some sucker. Dont be that sucker.
I agree give him book or just under book for that car. Make sure you print off the "USED CAR PRIVATE" price not the retail price.
Also it does matter what condition the car is in as well.
BTW BruDaddy your the noob. You sold cars at a DEALERSHIP the dealers retail price is different and higher than any Private saler because with a dealer you get a warrenty, lemon laws and so forth plus the over head.

It is just that.....good car with everything that is hard to look for. You would not regret getting it with all the goodies already, because everyone on here that gets a GXE ends up putting leather and all that stuff in it anyway. They spend all the same amount, just little bit at a time. Why not just go ahead and be enjoying it?
Plus it is a 5spd...they are rare enough, and with a good color combo...that is even more rare.

I've been looking for similar cars in my area (Atlanta) but a 97 and newer 5spd fully loaded is very very hard to find. The guy called me today and told me he got an offer at 13k and asked me if I would make a counter-offer, but I said no way, 12,500 was about as high as i was willing to go. I'll keep looking, hopefully something will turn up. Here is the link to it on autotrader.com http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ca...or=&cardist=12
i bought almost the exact same car, color, 99, black interior, except my mileage was 45k and i paid 12.500, i sometomes question if i got ripped off, but i love my car and i wouldn't trade it for ne thing, except an S7, but thats besides the point, if you can find one for cheaper with the same stuff ,tehn go for it, but leatehr is nice and the black interior is sharp, u won't be dissapointed.

Looking at those pix of it I woulda scooped it up!
Thats a VERY rare find, and although the south is LOADED with nissans, it'll be hard to find another one just like it. That car wouldve paid for itself within 3 months. Youre gonna find another one no dubt, but you'll forever compare those to the one you let slip by you!

yeah i just got my 99 SE-L sterling mist with every option and 43k miles for 12.5, so yeah your getting a great deal. My car is in pristine condition though, like perfect, so i didnt mind payin a little extra. oh ya... mines a 5 spd too, keep in mind 5spds are a little more rare
Yep, I'm hoping the guy calls me back to say that the deal didnt go through and that the car is still availble, but I'm gonna keep looking around. The only thing I hate is the damn PUSHY-*** car salesmen at the dealers. I ask them for a 5 spd maxima and if they don't have one they try to sell me everything else on the lot.

It's basically apart of their DNA.Seriously though....put away numbers from a book.....and consider the MARKET value of a car. In other words....get what you can....screw artificial numbers. Don't get attached to anything....metal! my .02 cents.
It's your money and your more than welcome to spend it as you please. However you ask the forums if 12,500 is a good deal and basically everybody said NO. I know how exciting the prospect of getting a new car is, I know the justification your mind does to try and increase its value in your mind (things like condition, color, etc...). My recommondation: Pretend your buing a car for someone else who wants a good deal then Drop this car and find another.
I got my 99 SEL with 48k miles for around $11,750, that was back in january. Mines auto, so the 5spd has a lesser value, you should pay no more than 11.5k for that car. And mine was fully loaded aswell, clean carfax.

i would say 12k is a good deal.
i bought my silver se max with black leather, auto tranny and bose 8 months ago. it had 22k miles and i paid 13k cash back then. but back then there was very few 6th gen out there. now they are all over so u should tell him that this car is 3 generations old. argue him down to 12k.
