idiling strange?

idiling strange?
my 97 maxima if idiling strange, it when driving and come to a complete stop the engine stays at 1500rpm's then goes to 500 and will randomly bounce back to 1500. anyone have this happen to them??

My friend had a intake leak and it did that. He also has an acura so it might be different for us.

that could be what it is cuz i took my air box off today to try and figure out a way to rig up somthing to put a cone on a MAF anyone no how to rig somthin up for that???? or any other idea what that could be?
