Balljoint Removable

Balljoint Removable

I looked in the haynes book but it says to replace the whole controler arm. how do you get the balljoint out of the controler arm?

I had both of mine replaced a few months ago since the boots were ripped. They do need to be pressed out and pressed in. I replaced the bushings with Energy Suspension bushings while I was at it. http://www.courtesyparts.com/energys...on/maxima.html

how in hell did you replace your ball joints the are welded to the control arm?

they are pressed in...at least in my 98...

...and you can get them for $23.79 from rockauto.com. I removed the arm myself (this might be expensive if done by someone else) and paid someone $20 to press the balljoints out/in, press the small bushings out, and cut off the big bushings.

i got mine out with a sledge hammer and a vice. i put the controler arm in the vice near the balljoint and 3 hits and its out. as for the new ones im going to press them myself with some differnt brass rings and the same vice.

ok thats good news although i found control arms replacements quite cheap(45.00 each in puerto rico) if anybody has the part number for those ball joint please post them
