Another Knock Sensor Thread....

Guys, I followed both of the instructions on how to change the KS and I just cant get the damn thing loose. My right hand is all cut up and I am so frustrated. I even went to autozone to buy the special bending adapter and was still unable to get the 12mm bolt loose. Is there anyone in NYC who would help me out? Or reccommend me to a shop which will do it for cheap. I just dont understand why the Nissan Designers had the put the pos right in that area. I wasted 2 hours for nothing, jeez.

How do the shops and the nissan dealers do it? Do they remove the manifold completely or the same way as the instructions?

Thanks.

HEH. I couldn't get it loose either, i had to put the socket on and bang the thing with a big wrench... it gave a little snap and it was loose... takes some patience... keep at it.. try again.. go with bigger longer tools :P

are you using a 12mm swivel socket? or the universal with a 12mm on it, i wasted 2 hours using the universal with a 12mm on it, doenst work, gotta goto sears or wherever and buy a 12mm swivel and get a 1/2" drive ratchet or soething and use alot of torque to get it open, took me 20-30 minutes to change it after i bought teh swivel, and 20 of those minuts was just to get teh bolt out and position the KS with my hands.

i ended up putting a pipe on my ratchet to get more leverage and it finally gave. dont give up. it was almost silly. i only had about an inch to turn the pipe and even that i had to lean the whole contraption at jut the right angle. it didn't give until i said the heck with it and gave it all i got, even though it felt like i was gonna snap something.

my cardomain page shows a picture of a universal socket and a 12mm swilvel socket. I uses a 1/2 rachet (long) and then connectors to make a 1/2 to 1/4, then 1/4 extention (10") and the swivel socket.

I was amazed on how easy it turn the bolt lose once I had this Gigantic 1/2 rachet (12 inches 1/2 rachet at home depo)

PS. how important is it to tigh the KS to +-12ft/lbs.
I just hand turned my until it stoped then used the rachet to tie a little.
