wont start, doesnt crank.

hey, i seem to be having some trouble with my 95 max. It has about 168k mile on it, and today when i tried to start it, it wouldnt crank. Lights and cd player come on, and the battery is fine but the car wont crank. It makes a ticking noise in the engine bay up toward the back are but the intake manifold. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem....all I had to do to fix it was clean off my battery post with one of those wire brushes and put them back on and it has worked fine since

Hey, its your starter. That clicking noise is the starter seloniod. Starters are easy to replace. Just take of the air intake and its right there on the engine. I think 2 bolts.

That link has a little more info than what you need to replace, but it will take you through the removal and install.

Could be the starter. The original starters (when the car was new) usually die around 70,000 - 80,000 miles.

You also might want to check the alternator. If you notice battery-run items work, but the lights are dimmed (headlights especially) then definitely the alternator. Sometimes bad alts can lead to some rough starts, slow starts, even clicking at times.
