differnt KINDS of weight...

Just thinking- what would slow down my car more. A stereo system adding, lets say 75lbs or 17's? Sorry if it's a dumb question.

The stereo system no question. Even if u had chrome spinners. I have a fully customized trunk in my max. Including: Two 12 inch ol skool solo baric s12's, one ol skool Precision Power PC1800 monoblock, one ol skool PC4400 4 ohm stereo, a pair of 1 farad Performance techniq digital caps, DVD player, and full vented box ported into the arm rest w/ 3/4 inch MDF and mad plexiglass, streetglow blues, and vinyl. I should post pics. Anyways, my car was DRASTICALLY slower after the box. It feels like the equivalent of 2 bodies in the car, or a 200 lb dead body in the trunk. Plus, the custom box drops the rear almost a FULL inch. I'm on stock suspension so it makes my car feel and look lika lo lo. But we all know its a trade off between show and go. Your choice

It depends on how much more each rim and tire weighs compared to the stck wheels. The formula is something like difference in weight x4(4wheels) x8(don't know why). So if the wheel was 3lbs more it would be 3x4=12, 12x8= 96lbs.

Hmm, I always thought that the rims, due to some rotational force needed to get them going would make the car slower. I mean, lets see. My sub box weighs aboput 40 lbs. the amp about 5 channel amp 15 lbs, wires about another 8-10, seakers don't really count b/c they just replace the old ones so the weight is really negligable. The added stereo system weight of 65 lbs does not make my trunk budge, MAYBE a quater of an inch, but to the naked eye, the car stays the same, box or not. and I have a stock SE suspension. Okay, so about how much time for aguments sake would this 65 lb system be adding to my 0-60 time. What would be the formula? I am not really worried about it, but curious. The car still feels adequately quick.

just have your buddy sit in the passenger seat, if you can't tell the difference with another person there, then who cares about another 65 lbs.

man 75 pounds should slow you down -.075 almost a point 1, and heavy rims work on the same principle. every 100 pounds you add would take add a .1. figure up how much your bigger set of tires and rims weigh over stock and take that figure and multiply it by 7 and some people say 10 , to figure up what the unsprung weight would be on the chasis.
