quick ? about Cv boots
I just noticed my cv boot on my left side is torn in half.....i know im gonna replace the whole axle but i was wondering if its ok to drive on it since i have over 50 miles im gonna be putting on tonight. It doesnt make any sound yet only when i turn hard left at slow speeds. Thanks
when i noticed that my passenger side cv boot was torn, i didnt replace the axle until about 2000 miles later when it was making really bad noises. **be clear tat i am not telling you to drive on it, im just saying what i did

You wont have to replace the whole axle unless it clicks and makes bad noises. Crank the wheel all the way locked to one side while moving and if it doesnt make noises you should be ok with just the boot. If the boot has just recently torn, your axle should be fine, and you will only need to replace the boot. I just went through this myself.

kinda sucks for me since i need to drive to my hockey game tonight and another 150 miles for the rest of the week. I work at a dealership but its a pain to try and find someone to do a side job on the same day
