VQ30DE-K on 4th gen?

Is it possible/easy to replace 4th gen engine ('95) with 3.0 5th gen engine ('00-'01)?

The intake manifold from the VQ30DE-K (5th gen 3.0) will not clear the stock hood, but you can use the block.

Right. As far as I know clearing the hood isn't the big problem. The K manifold will not clear the firewall on the 4th gen. Someone said that it can be fixed by moving the engine mounts but no one has yet to prove that.

What would be the purpose? Just for the intake manifold? Couldn't you just get a 5th gen manifold and use that instead of the whole motor?

If you want more top-end just put on an MEVI. And you have a 95 so you can add a JWT ECU with the 7200 rpm limiter to take full advantage of it also. You'll be in better shape than the 00-01 engine and 6600 rpm limiter in that case.

vaysmolov(sp?)?
man what are u trying to say?

yeah i got my a 2k motor in my car but i have the 4th gen intake manifold on it instead of the 5th gen one. and the reason for that i dont have a write up for the swap is what is the point of doing one cause i know most people wont even attempt to do this. ohh and i dont want to take credit for doing this swap cause my bro did alot of the work on the car.

How do the power curves of the VI and -K manifolds compare?

IIRC the K (5th gen's) have a more solid straight line throughout the power band. MEVI vs K motor, K motor is still supposed to be better but MEVI + JWT ecu ***** on K motor. Something about the 5th gens having long and short rods kicking in at the proper times allow them to still produce a little more power than the 4th gen with a MEVI....? Something around those lines...

Thanks for the replies.

I'm afraid my engine strangely died, just 105K miles on it, so I'm researching possiblities if I'll have to replace it.

Does anybody know if timing belt would go off, it would make it worthless to fix the engine (on a maxima)? What is the purpose of "timing sensor"?

Thanks.

we don't have timing belts we have a chain that's supposed to last the lifetime of the car that shouldn't need to be serviced.

I knew it, but for some reason I thought that my maxima has a belt (unguided by constant dealer advertizement to me about their services).
What about "timing sensor"?

timing sensor? you mean crank-angle sensor?? at least I'm pretty sure that is what they are called on a max, only sensor I know of that reads any kind of timing...

as for why you'd want a full 2k/2k1 engine, I believe I read somewhere that it also had different cams than the 95-99 engines, with that combined with the variable intake adds the extra hp.

After reading its possible to swap a vq35 crank + rods into a vq30, ending up with around a 3.3L, I'd love to do that, add in 2k/2k1 cams (if they are in fact different), and either mevi+ecu, or just boost it, would be quite an interesting machine...

yeah, i know for a fact that 2k-2k1 cams are different. and it would be a interesting combo having a 2k-2k1 engine with mevi and jwt ecu and then boost it but itstill would not make more horses than a vq35 if you do mods to that engine.

Jwt Ecu

Ive been reading up on the JWT ECU, and theres a few things that i need to clear up. The website says that they only mod the 95 and 96 VQ30's because of the coding i guess. So where have i seen several people on here with 97's with the JWT ECU? If there is any way to get it for the 97 that would be great since i have one and i want to do it. If not, is there another ECU mod that is equivalent to JWT's?
