Chirping Gears=Drivetrain slack?

Ever since i had my max i was able to chrip the wheels going to second. Now i find it hard to when really runnin the car. My first thought is that my clutch is just getting worn down. I have 84 thousand miles on it which isn't bad for a clutch but there was an event in the max's life that makes me think the clutch is the what is wearing. oppps haha. Involving a girl driving and getting nervous. Clutch isn't slipping yet tho. My second thought would be my tires are just old and crappy and even if they chirp they just don't make any noise.

Now here is the real question i need some input on this. I talked to my friend that knows eveything about the max and cars. He told me that chirping the wheels is actually bad for the engine and could potentially lead to drive train SLACK. Has anyone experienced this? or does anyone have other thoughts on the long term effects of shifting hard? Ever since he told me this i had been easy when shifting and giving the clutch a slower pace then dropping it. Let me know what you think THANKS

Props to your friend, yes chirping 2nd gear is putting plenty of strain on your drive shafts, engine mounts, transmission, clutch, suspension components and last of all your tires.

Warmer weather means your tires stick to the road better which means less chirping into 2nd.

Do yourself a favor and drive the car respectively, it will cost you a lot less to own and operate.

oh haha i have been driving it respectively trust me.....I just replaced my alternator and i don't have money to throw around. But it sucks cause i'm all paranoid now if i do have slack in the drivetrain but the car drives fine i think i just worry about my max to much. haha I do admit tho i am a REVaholic at points when i drive.....the max is just such a fun car. Is there a way to check that everything is ok?

Well, the biggest problem isn't when you chirp second and third gears, it's when your car DOESN'T and you're "trying" to. Because when you chirp/spin, all of that energy is actually being transferred as opposed to when you don't, which the drivetrain is taking the brute force.

Moral of the story: Stop beating your car. It will beat your wallet.

Edit: My Accord knows fully well what happens when you beat it: In 1 week of the 3 puck clutch: Broke BOTH ENDS of engine mount (you break two joints of the same object,) broke steering rack, broke tie rods, broke radiator (yeah... really,) twisted half-shafts, broke ball joints (all 4)... uhh, yeah, I can keep going.

So no, you two aren't the only idiots who suffered the consequences. But I had fun doing it. That's why I have the Max now.

like i dont' beat my car as the impression i gave off. I think half the problem, and i'm sure tons of max onwers will agree, is that it just feels like the max wants to go......I definitly wouldn't push a car past it's limits even if it is a beater or the fastest car. I think the max likes to be opened up once in a while if it could talk it would say ewww that tickles at wot hahaha. But yeah no more chirping for me
