Well...I was in the market for an auto for now. The next ride will definately be a 5-speed but thats not for a while...gotta pay this one off first, and then maybe enjoy a year or two without car payments!!

Because I'm only 16...so an auto to start out with would be better than a 5-speed. Once I get some experience, look out...

It's a long story with my car...(the shortened version):
I had just turned 15 when I bought my '92 GXE. It was a deal I just couldn't refuse from a friend!! It needed a new tranny...so I got it for a pretty good deal ($1500 + $2000 tranny = $3500) plus maybe almost another $500-$1000 in miscellanious parts like brakes, muffler, etc. Anyway, the law here in NJ is at 16 you get your permit and 17 you get your license. Me being 15, I couldn't drive it, so my dad payed insurance on it and he used it for a year. I got my permit now, and I decided that I'd rather have my dream of a '97 SE instead of the '92 GXE. So, I began my search. Went to dealers, but had no luck (too much $$$...one dealer wanted $19,200 for a '97 SE Auto w/ Only S&C Pkg. and Sunroof). I found one in the local paper fully loaded '97 SE Deep Evergreen w/ Tan Leather, Bose, Sunroof, ABS, and all that. I went to look at it, and the car is immaculate. And there you have it. Thus, the '92 GXE is for sale for $4800 (I really only want $4500) and I'm getting a new '97 SE. Some of my friends say that I'm crazy being on my 2nd car and I don't even have my license, but I'm proud of myself because I am paying for everything myself. It's gonna take me 4 years to pay it off...but at least it'll be mine and I won't be like some of the spoiled kids around here who drive brand new cars that their parents bought for them and still hit their parents up for gas money. (No flames intended if this is you)

End of my story!!

me too!!!!

What a coincidence!
I'm picking up my new '98 SE 5 speed tomorrow night.
I just can't wait. I'm pretty sure we'll be happy customers and have made a good choice. Enjoy the ride!

Hey kid, you're lucky you have a nice car at a young age. I'm 33 & my wife bought me a used car for my b'day. Keep saving your money & do well in school...it will pay off eventually. By the way, my car IS black w/leather...Sorry!

I am 16...Just turned it on Christmas. I have been saving for a while...and I'll be making payments...and all I have in an after school part-time job averaging $80-$100/wk.

Don't have to worry about insurance yet...my parents said they'll help me out on that until I get my license!

hehe, 100 a week. thats nothing when you start modding your car. I did the same thing when i was 16, now I make 400 a week (Im a student, give me a break) and I still dont have all the money for the mods and car payments. Its like a have a hole in my pocket. Hmm and Nj insurance is a *****. But hey its all good. hopefully you dont like some where by Hamilton or there might be trouble JK

Man....once you get old enough...start waiting tables somewhere....I'm a student, and work at Chili's...and if I work a full week...I can pull over 600 bucks...AFTER TAXES!!! It's amazing...only problem is you usually have to be a little older...I live in Chicago...and the min age is 19....I'm 20...turning 21 in May Modding the car IS expensive....and even with my 600 bucks a week, which is rare cuz I'm in school all the time, I still can't mod fast enough...hehe

yeah i dunno what my job is gonna be. hopefull can help my fam out with makin some webpages for close friends..i can prolly make good money off of that..i have a couple of friends who pull about 2k a page. There are several places around here to work too that offer more than min. wage ( up to 9 and hour ) I'll just save it all up, cuz money will be goin strictly for the car. mom said she'd pay for insurance. man i cant wait! now they are sayin that they are gonna propose a law down here that for 6 months after you get your license (16) you can only have fam in the car with you..but thas fine.. me and my max will make very good friends

Welcome to the fold, Nick! Don't worry about the auto! I'm told that Don's VB mod will spice up the tranny!
