Window tinting questions
How many of you guys (and gals) have tinted your windows? I am considering this mainly to keep the interior cooler in the summer, considering my black interior. I'd appreciate any feedback from those that have tinted windows, and any photos. Here are some photos of my car currently with no tint: www.pbase.com/newell/maxima
Will window tint keep my car cooler on a hot day? And will it retard cracking of the leather over time?

Tinting the windows will definitely help with keep the car cooler. Also it should help on reducing the cracking of the leather since it wont be direct sunlight hitting it anymore. I'd say just go as dark as you can, due to state laws out in Utah, I had to go 43% front and limo in the back, not quite sure what the percentage was, but believe me, it makes a difference on a sunny day.
I dont have any new pics with my tint, but ill see if can get one uploaded sometime today.

I live in NY, where the summers can get pretty hot. I have had my max for 2 years now and cant imagine not having tinted windows. I have black leather interior with limo tint all around. I bought the car that way, didnt like the tint at first, but after the first summer I realized that it was a necessity. I have never been issued a ticket for it being to dark either (I have been stopped twice with it). Hope this helps. Good Luck!

5% tint all the way. thats what i have and believe me here in south florida it is a neccesity. ve had it on for like 15 months now and love it. im not sure about the laws here but im pretty sure it is illegal to have limo. i wish i can do something about the windshield, i might just get a strip done so i can get some of the sun out my eyes while im driving east at sunrise, i get blinded. check out pics of my tint at my cardomain site, link is in my sig.

Tints are a necessity.
1.) Looks clean and classy
2.) Keeps interior cool and a/c blasts cooler
3.) Keeps the sun out of your eyes and blazing on your left arm in traffic
4.) Privacy
5.) Safety: Tint film acts as a net if your window busts.
I cant think of anything else

yea 5% is the way to go ...if youre gonna get a tint get a dark one...i have 5% all around and a 35% on my windshield...got pulled over about a month ago (got to court tomorrow) and the cop didnt say anything about it....i did however open my sunroof which i did not get tinted for this purpose and rolled down alll my windows...5% is NOT limo tint...you cannot see anything whatsoever in a limo where as a car with a 5% tint can show a silhouette when the sun hits it at the right angle...im about to get another layer of 15% put over my 5% and leave my windshield at a 35% for summer....that will make my front and rear windows a .01% or something like that

holy crap dude, you are going to have a pitch black car! you need to get some pics of this stuff man, make a cardomain page. I think limo tint is defined as 10% or darker.

I would not go darker than about 25-30%. That is plenty dark to get all the benefits, and none of the cop harrassment. Here, you have to have like 35%. I just don't like riding in a car that you have to look out of the windows in 5%. It is too dark. Imagine at night...
You ought to be able to get a good job done for like $150-$200. Make sure you use someone with a good reputation, because you will mess up your rear defrosters if you have to take it off and do it again.
