gas light question.
gas light question.
i was wondering about where on the guage does it kick in. it has never come on and i am not sure if its burned out or not. when the gauge is in the middle of the E block? the begining? the end? and when it comes on about howw many mile do we have left. i have a 95 any help would be great
yeah thats true and i don't think i have let it go so far i was just asking when it should cut on. i wanted to make sure its not burned out. here in ohio the gas prices are really high and i try to find the best prices.
mine kicks on b/w 1/4 and E yet somehow doesn't manage to stay constantly on, the light will slowly come on, stay on for a few seconds then turn itself off and repeat itself until I fill up the car ... is something screwed up w/ the sensing unit or does everyone's max do the same whether your low fuel light is on the gauge itself or w/ the rest of the warning lights?
there is nothing wrong with the sensing unit.
when it switches on and off slowly it is an indication that your fuel is running low.
when it stays on that is when it tells you NEXT STOP GAS STATION.

When mine comes on and stays on, I have 1 gal left. Believe me, you must stop at gas station if the light stays on. I don't know if it is different in the older ones (95/96) or not.
When it first comes on and then goes back off, I have about 2 gal. Mine never comes on at 3 gal. left.
If you would keep track of your trip mileage and your gallons that you put in it (mpg for the layperson), you would be able to calculate it pretty close to where you will run dry. However, you don't want to do that....not too good on the car and not worth it.

i have a 95' max and when it's below E line for about 40 miles, my light goes off, but it only blinks slowly, (and it's very dim!) after that i still drive for another good 30 miles!
so the answer to the question is that there might be nothing wrong with your light bulb or sensor, it's just not set properly, and you can drive until the light goes off, then fill it up
and the light is located next to the E line
