i took the bulb out to try a different color, and it wouldnt work. so i put the original back in, it wouldnt work. i unscrewed the bulb holder, and got my test light, and it has power at the harness, and at the bulb holder. but the thing is, when i put the test light on it with the bulb in, there is power on one side, and then on the other side there is a slight amount of power, and the bulb in the door lights up slightly too, but only when i touch the ground side with the test light.

so, i stripped the ground back a bit so i could clamp onto it, and there is no power, but there is when i have a good ground, on the frame or something. basically the ground wire is no longer grounded. wtf? so i go to the other door, and take the bulb, and the white holder and everything, and it works on the other door! man i was ****ed, i ended up with the whole damn door panel off, trying to trace it down, all to no avail. I still have no idea what the hell is going on. and, in the process, i managed to cut the ground wire on the other door right at the harness. so now i have no light on either door!!


never knew changing a light bulb could lead to so much trouble...

 

Same thing happened to mine on my 96, its still like it but only on one door (passenger side).
Whats up with that?
