newbie questions

Hello everyone, I'm new to the org and before I start drilling you all with questions, I wanna take this chance to say how appreciative I am of having an avenue such as this to talk about a common topic with fellow enthusiasts. This is my first real post to any of the forums besides the test one, but I've been a looonnnggg time lurker and have learned a great deal from just reading what you all had to say. It's obvious that many of you guys know a great deal more about these topics (the Maxima, modding and such) than I do and it seems that there's a general consensus to try and help others who aren't as knowledgeable or experienced. I'm looking forward to chatting with you all and I hope to establish some mutually beneficial, respectful and meaningful relationships with others in the Maxima community. (how cheesy does that sound right?) Hope to chat w/ ya'll soon.

Now, about those questions...Here are some things I'd like you guys' opinions on if you don't mind. I'm looking to start modding (i use that term very loosely mind you) and I'm not ready to just jump right in w/ out knowin the deal ya know. So here are a few of them:
1) I wanna get the Black Chrome DC bumper lights like those on custommaxima.com but I'm unsure about the quality and fitment of those offered on cusmax. Are there other places that have better quality ones or are those on cusmax already good quality? Any probs w/ fitment? If so, what? Any maintenance procedures to keep in mind, like sealing them w/ a silicone sealant or anything like that? (I read somewhere that this helps w/ reducing condensation buildup and such). Anything else I should know?
2) It's about time for me to flush my ATF and I've been hearing good things about the Redline products. Could someone tell me where to get this stuff? How much is it? Is it worth getting?
3) My windshield wipers are in dire need of replacement. I want the PIAA CF ones but are those just the blades themselves or the entire thing? I don't know what it's called but my wiper blades have a polished metallic looking base and I don't think they've ever been replaced cuz they look like crap. Is it possible to replace the whole part, (as in the entire wiper blade assembly/base) or am I stuck jus having to get the wiper blade refills?
These are the little things I wanna do first before I get into the big stuff and any help would be appreciated. Some background info on my car & me. She's my 2nd Max to date, (my 1st was a gold 2nd gen SE whom my dad & me sold to a guy who lives in my town a couple years back) and I got her about this time last year which makes her about a year old to me. Actually tomorrow will be our 1 yr. anniversary. Plz don't take it that seriously lol. I try to take good care of her but compared to some of you I'm sure that's debatable. I change her oil usually every 3-5,000 miles and only use synthetic. Mobil 1 or Castrol I think. I haven't really done anything to her yet besides some clear rubber mats on the inside and a little string type decoration hangin from the interior windshield. I don't have big plans or anything cuz I'm savin up for a 5th gen (in my opinion the best Max ever made, sorry if I offend any1). The requisite interior mods like dash and gauge trim, gauge needles and faces, shift **** & boot, e-brake handle and whatever else I think of in the future. For the outside I'm contemplating the 95/96 to 97-99 front & rear end conversion but if that happens it'll be one of the biggest and last mods I do b4 selling her. Some 18" gunmetal dish rims, maybe Stillen lip & side skirts and new head n taillight treatments makeup the most of it. Prolly a drop in ride height n a few handling touches here and there but nothing fancy. A basic sound system and I'm pretty much done modding. Oh except for performance of course. Nothing more than a Y-pipe, catback, intake, new plugs n maybe an A'pexi SAFC to round it all out. I plan on having her for a couple more years and then selling her for an 01' 5th gen. She jus hit the 100k mark like last Thurs. which isn't bad considering her age and that I got her w/ 74,000 on the odo. Sorry for the length but beginnings are usually the most tedious. I look forward to all your responses.

Quick question.
Everytime I post something it "kicks me off" and I have to sign back into the org b4 I can view my post. If this is correctable by reading the FAQ's then forgive me. From now on if I say anything that's already been covered then plz, I'd appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction b4 the flaming starts. Thanks!

Hey, I too have been reading the forums for quite some time, and am now new to posting... Welcome to the boards!

now this may be a little off topic, but i hope it helps. (sorry i don't have much info on the mods you want to do)

Be it that i'm financially er... challenged (without a job and all ) i'm all about mods that cost the least and do the most.

So be it that im more-a-less newb to do it yourself modding i made a list of stuff I and perhaps others can do, when starting to mod.

Here's my old post with the list.

Happy Modding

Thanx for the welcome Axis! Welcome to the boards yourself! Thanx for the gesture man! I reeaallly appreciate it!!! It's nice to see that jus cuz i'm new to the org, that not everyone wants to flame me off or pick me apart jus yet. I too am what one would call "financially challenged" as I'm a full-time college student and I work when not at school. I too value the mods that do a lot and cost a little. That's why I'm starting out slowly with the mods I listed above and ending up with the big ones like rim/tires, body kits, sound system, etc. I appreciate the warm welcome guys. Thanx again.

A few facts I left out above. I tend to think that I treat my car pretty well and as such I only use synthetic oil, mid to high octane 89/91 octane gas,(wutever I can afford at the time-usually 89 I think) and I'm pretty ok with the maintenance intervals. I'm about due for a big one any day now. I'm thinking I should flush the tranny fluid (cuz I don't think that's ever been done-at least not as long as I've had her), change the plugs (maybe to NGK coppers-don't know which exactly), check all belts and hoses, fluids, and brakes, steering, and suspension. I've got a guy that gives me fair deals on pretty much every service I need and I'll have him check it out and find out which services I need.
In another note, my car's an autotragic with a crappy azz stereo, cloth interior, spoiler, sun-roof and white-face gauges. FYI if you cared.

p.s. Today's my car and I's 1 year anniversary of being together. Pretty cool I guess. I've already put 26k miles on her of about 65% city & 35% highway miles on her and she still runs like a champ. Go VQ!!! Anyway, I was thinkin I'd get her one of those $30 car detailings since it's been a while since we've spent any quality time together (you know wut I mean right?) and I don't have the time or daylight to do it myself as it looks like it's gonna rain sometime soon in my area. As of now, I'm still undecided.

Forgive the noobie question, but why is it that after a certain amount of threads have been added after yours, it doesn't show that yellow arrow in the blue box pointing down? How many posts does it take for yours to lose that symbol? Jus askin cuz I noticed that as my thread got replaced by old ones, it lost it. Just an observation I guess. Oh and I scoured the org and couldn't find that info anywhere so plz don't get on me about that. If it's here somewhere then i'd appreciate being kindly led to that info. Thanx much!
