since my ill faithed dyno i am going to get a tuneup for my max. i was wondering if i should just get OEM NGK platinum plugs or NGK Iridum plugs. they are both around $12 a piece and i don't mind spending that much if they are worth it. does anyone in here use iridums?

Platinums last longer so if you're going to spend the money, get those. Personally, I go with the coppers because they're cheap.

i will pay for what ever is best..... if coppers are just AS good but platinum is still BETTER i will get platinum. i thought iridiums were supposed to be good though

 

If you do it yourself get coppers, but if you're having it done then get plats so you don't have to pay for labor twice as often.

 

It depends on how you define "best." Do you want longevity? If so, platinums. If you want better performance, copper is the way to go. ANd you can install them yourself; it's really easy. If a car-idiot like myself can do it, you can too. I seriously had not done anything beyond changing my oil and was able to do the spark plugs. Just take your time and count your screws; easy as that.

The only advantages to the plats is their longevity. However for 1/3 the cost, get the coppers and change twice as often.

 

Article has no info on Iridium plugs. Is the article older than the plugs? Any DYNO's with Iridiums??

Also, NGK advertised that the copper plugs work well when engine is running lean. I'm assuming that means less knock too.

 

well according to everything i have read in performance mags, sportcompact car, super street and import tuner. iridium plugs are supposedly better than platinums. i used iridiums in my 240 and they were ok. but if everyone says plat is the way to go the plat it is..

 

you have like one person telling you to go with the platinums, and the rest are screaming coppers, and you say that we are all telling you to go with the plats?
