how long can the clutch last?

I am a newbie in manual car. recently got a 96 Maxima and found that the first owner changed the clutch at 60k and had the transmission rebuilt at Nissan Dealer, currently the car has 97k, because I am not sure about how soon I should have the car clutch check?

Do you think a 100K maintainance check is necessary? or what I should pay attention to? thanks a lot for your kind advice.

The clutch in my Nissan truck is still going strong at 200k miles.

Drive right and it will last.

In theory, you should be able to have the same clutch the whole time you have the car. If you race at all or slip the clutch, which most are very bad at doing, your clutch will not last that long. I know a lot of guys that still have the stock clutch in at 130K miles or so.
That was really early to replace the clutch and rebuild the tranny in the one you bought. The previous owner must have just driven the poo out of it.

I have 161,700 on my factory clutch, but it's just starting to show some minor signs of wear. I expect it to last quite a while longer though. It still grips great. Oh, just a question for anyonbe who knows...How much does the stealership charge to replace a clutch? (The factory clutch, not their "value clutch")

It would probably do you some good to spend a little more and get lightened pulleys and flywheel while you are in there. That way, you don't have to pay for labor twice. I mean, you will already have it all ripped apart. If I would be able to, when my clutch gets replaced, that is what I will do.
