97+ Front Conversion

This goes out to all who own a 95/96 and converted the front bumper into the 97+ bumper. I've read the FAQs but my question wasn't really answered. Do I need to order any parts other than the actual bumper itself? If yes, what are they? Thanks.

the bumper will fit perfectly without a 97-99 grill nor headlight. but most people convert the grill for a complete convertion. plus it looks better that way.

all u need is the bumper..

i recommened at least bumper and grill.
get the paintable grill, not chromed. have them paint the mesh on teh grill back, and the rest body color. thast how it is from the factory. if you dont tell them, they will paint all of it body color..looks a little tacky.

tell the shop to paint the reinforcement black when they take the bumper off... it should be free.. or graba can of spray paint and do it yourself..so it looks cleaner through the mouth of the bumper.

If you dont use the 97-99 grill the front will look like Sh#t. The 95-96 grills outer posts dont go down far enough to match up with the bumper. Their will be a large gap between the grill and bumper since the 97-99 bumper is lower on the outer edges.
I drove aroungd like that for about a week untill my grill came in and it looked like crap.

you can find a new bumper online... a lot of places have replacement car parts... as far as taking it off... i haven't took mine off yet. Just look for some bolts, shouldnt be too many... then reverse the steps putting it back on...

just go to google and search for:

____ Nissan Maxima OEM Front Bumper - or something like that...

all you realy need is the bumper, the grill also has a gap if you keep the 96 so just buy the 97.

Thanks. The lip is unpainted because it is Carbon Fiber.

there is a deal goin on now through JR Nissan for OEM fog kits for the 97-99 year max. I believe they are only $187, which is dirt cheap if youask me for a complete kit.

but just like the other guys said, all you will need is the bumper cover itself and a new grille.

it doesnt matter which one you get.. i got the primered one..but my paint seems to chip off easily. guess they dotn use good primer... so my advice is to get the raw.so your body shop has to primer it.. paint should stick to it a little better that way. but may cost you a few extra bucks.
