standard gle options
leathers seats
digital climate control (love that)
standard wood grain
automatic tranny
137K
no spoiler
i got a near by dealer selling
95 Se
cloth seats
no digital climate control (#$#%$#%#@)
no wood grain
5 speed (love that)

ok heres my problem
i always wanted a 5 speed but then i would loss my leather seats and my digital climate control but i would gain a spoiler and lower miles in the trade
question
1) is it worth the trade
2) can i mod in a digital climate control if i decide to do the trade
please give me input as to what i should do thanks

You know what you do...You take a different car to look at the SE.Once you get there, you ask if you can take it for a test drive.Take it to wherever your Max is,and quickly swap out the climate controls! Haha no jk.
Go for the SE,you can always find a digi-climate later and swap it out.Same with the leather seats. But that price ($5900) seems a little high doesnt it? I bought my 97 SE 5spd,cloth,80k miles, for $5995 (firm price,no bargaining)from a dealer...I duno.5spd is much nicer though. It's worth the leather trust me.

no 4th gens have successfully swapped out climate controls. i only know of 1 3rd genner that did it and he said it took forever to do all the wiring. there have been threads about it, and i as well as many others want it, but it's a lot of work. just figured i'd clear that up in this thread.
btw, kta920, that's a great deal you got, everywhere around here in mass, seems like prices are way higher than that.

I say go for it. I mean, you ought to try to talk him down maybe a little more, but leather is not that big of a deal. 5spd, however, is a huge deal. That is the one thing that will make your car a lot more fun to drive. I cannot go anywhere in my car that it is not just fun to drive. I mean, I can just hop in it, and when I get to where I am going, I almost don't want to get out, because I am having a blast driving.
Just something to think about.
BTW, SE looks better w/o woodgrain.
Also, climate control is not that big of a deal. It is a pain sometimes where I live anyway. Sometimes, like right now, at night, it will be down in the 40's. Then, it is up in the 80's during the day. You have to sit there and punch the temp button 20 times either way, and that just kind of gets old. I mean, if you wanted to do that on manual climate, all you would have to do is slide the bar to the other side.

If the two are the same price, go for the SE, wood grain is overrated unless you have black on black.
If you are looking to hot rod it and don't drive a lot (over 20K miles per year) go with the 5sp of course, but if you do drive a lot especially in the city and aren't planning on frequently racing, automagic is the way to go.
Anything over $5K for either one of them is not a good deal. I am not saying it is bad, but nothing special. . For example, my 99 GLE, 100% maxed out with 100K for $6000.
Due to esthetic reasons (front grille + bumper) I would look for 97-99
Don't be impatient. What color is it?

I don't get it, Auto climate control is the easiest in the scenerio you stated. I have mine set at 70 on auto (I know I burn more gas, whatever, I do run it on econ when it's cold sometimes, unless the windows fog up.) I never have to touch it, whether it's 20 or 80 outside. Occasionaly I bump it a degree or two either way depending on conditions and how I feel but that's it. Oh, I also have to readjust it after my wife gets out of the car. She feels pushing it up to 85 makes the car warm up faster and she's "always cold" plus she never wants it blowing in her face so she always has it screwed-up when she's in the car, defeating the purpose of the climate control . One thing I like about the auto mode in the cold weather is if you leave it on when you turn the car off, when you start the car up cold, the fan won't kick up until the engine warms up.
It's nice but probably not the only reason to overlook another car.
