97max gets hard time starting I get a code 05 03

Hi, my 97 max has a hard time starting. I was getting a massage that o2 sensor had a problem but not anymore. I get a code 05 03 which is a “CRANK POSITION SENSOR” there is two of them which one?? My clutch was replaced with a starter last week. Any ideas how to check which one and how to change one or both of them. Any suggestions?

It's most likely Crank Position (POS) and it's located on the transmission bell housing. Down under the car twards the front. Makes sense being you had a clutch installed and that sensor would have been disconnected while the tranny was dropped. That sensor is know to cause hard starts when it dies.

Code 05 03 is the right bank front heated O2 sensor, not crank sensor. With the O2 problem you are running rich on that side of the motor, dumping raw fuel down your exhaust which will eventually ruin your cat.
