Ok another "ghetto" mod...black badges/keyhole *pics*
Used my leftover niteshades tint spray on the badges and some left over wheel clearcoat. Didn't like how the rear of my car was way too cluttered (chrome badges, keyhole, license plate frame, muffler, window sticker), but I wasn't about to shave it bc i like the badges. Came out nice and real easy to do, unsure of how it will hold up though.
This is how it looked before
Thanks go to Will (metallic97gxe) for giving me some tips on his badges..

I used regular spray paint gloss black about 4 coats sprayed about 15 mins apart so each coat is good and dry..here are instructions on how to "shave" your emblems...
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=258753
I took mine off them cleaned all the adhesive off the back of it then cut small strips of double side tape to the back of the emblem then reapplied it..

thanks for comments
Tyrexx/LudeAEM how did you guys take the front badge off? I was considering doing the front emblem too.
nitromax- thanks...its a powertech PT-1011. Best sound I've heard a max put out exhaust wise so far, very deep.
jeeve- I put it on using leftover Silicone adhesive sealant I had laying around from using it to seal my clear corners up. My friend recommended me to use it. When his door molding fell off, he used that and its been through a year with no problems at all.

metallic i may have to copy you :-p, i also have a 97 beige Maxi... and i've been thinking about spray painting the emblems...
not sure if i want to do it black though... i mean i don't want it to be to ricey and make it something wild... but not sure if black is going to be my color of choice.
blah..
nice job Luda.

I took off the front grill and carefully masked off around the badge. You may want to go out and buy some 2000 grit sandpaper from your local automotive store so the emblem has some grittyness to it so the paint will stick.

I'm of the opinion that its much easier to pry off the emblem and paint. This is similar to shaving the rear. Just heat up and pry. Except the front emblem has two little plastic pins that help align it. Be careful not to break those off. BTW, LudeAEM, 2000 grit is way to fine. I hope you meant 200 because 2K will do nothing and might even smooth it slightly.

Another tip guys...you can get a kind of black chrome finish to your badges if you do it right. The first couple layers of niteshades ended up leaving them with a kind of black ice color, or the Hyperblack that some wheels have...but mine were spotty bc I was rushing to get this done. If you are patient then you should be able to get a nice, even black chrome finish.

So broaner you applied direct heat to the grill and then removed the emblem?
If so what did you use to "gently" heat it? Because personally i'm interested in spraying my emblem without getting anything on the grill...
oh and does anyone else have a 97 maxi who can't get their front emblem off?(without removing the grill)

I'm not modding my car to please others, I do what I like. If others like it or not it doesn't matter.

Looks good
I tried the same thing with mine but I didn't like the way the blck looked on my sage mist green, so I ended up leaving it shaved. I am thinking about doing something with the keyhole, maybe with body color touch up paint.
