Muffler

I am trying to make a decision which for me has been hard. I want to get a new muffler and I have been leaning toward Dynomax. but when I get it I don't want it to be too quiet. I have a ypipe w/ custom bpipe. Does anyone have any videos or sound clips of a Dynomax super turbo muffler? I want it to be loud but not too loud, I don't wanna sound like a 4 banger honda. Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you aren't about to bite the bullet right now and can wait till next week, I will have mine done and probably have soundclips. I'm gonna go talk to the exhaust shop sometime this week and see what they can do.

BTW they have sound clips on their site. IMO it doesn't sound like a ricer *cough* I mean civic at all.

I think I can wait a week. I went to their website and they had a civic sound clip and domestics. I don't think they would sound anything like that on our cars. I'd like it to sound like a V8 sounds or something similar. PM me the sound clips if you get it done. Thanks

I have a warpspeed y pipe with a super turbo & 4" monza tip. It sounds good. Deep grumble at idle. Unless you want it real loud, make sure you have a resonator. This will kill some boominess and get rid of raspy sound (you know that ricey braaaaat!! noise). If you dont have a y pipe it should stay fairly quiet.

Tweeter007: I do have a y-pipe and I have no resonator. Sounds good the way you describe it, do you have a resonator?

I'd really like to hear a sound clip too. If I can't find one I'll take my chances on how I will like the sound.

I am running with Remus muffler, and the sound it makes is nice!! Deep and powerful kind of sound, unlike those mufflers with farting sounds from those ricers. The whole exhaust system on my max, except the muffler of course, is stock. Since you have aftermarket y-pipe and b-pipe, I guess it's gonna be a bit louder if go with Remus. Remus ain't cheap, but the sound is excellent!!

Where could I get Remus. I don't wanna spend too much, I am kinda cheap. I'll take the Remus into consideration. I'd kind of like my car to sound like a V8 if that is possible.

Our cars can't really sound like a V8 because we have a 6 cylinder engine, plus we have a different engine altogether - however, you can get a nice import sound with the right mods and exhaust.

I have some exhaust sound clips of some different set up's, from Magnaflow, DynoMax, Remus, Apexi WS and some Greddy catbacks that I'll upload for you tonite to have a listen too.

The only thing that truly sounds the best to me, is the Cattman Headers - it gives the car a beautiful vvvvrooom, importish, sporty sound that you have to hear to believe - however, if you're looking to find something a little cheaper, you might even consider a 5th Gen muffler as the AM Y pipe with an exhaust like Dynomax can get really brassy, or bees in a can sounding (a.k.a ricey sounding, and yes, I know our exhaust was ricey sounding so I speak from experience).

The headers are really the only thing that is going to dramatically alter the way your car sounds.

I have a very small hollow resonator, not glass pack. I am installing a Dynomax thrush glasspack later this week, 17" long, in place of my existing resonator. I want it sounding good but not too boomy or loud (wife & kid drive in it too). I will let you know on this thread how it turns out(maybe even post a clip). I had just a cat-back and it hardly sounded any different, just deeper. When I installed y-pipe it got much louder and raspy, more of a vroom sound at 3500rpm+. Definatly altered the way my car sounded!

Nismo_k: I know we have a whole different engine and everything else. I just thought someone might make a muffler that sounds kind of like it.

tweeter004: A clip would be great. Will the resonator make a big difference in sound.

Installed my Dynomax Magnum Thrush muffler today in place of resonator with existing Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. Wow! Exactly the sound I was shooting for. Got rid of any inherent rasp that was buggin me, resonance in cabin down considerably, sound is deeper. Idle still sounds good. Almost as quiet as stock but you can tell something is going on. At WOT it comes alive and sounds great. Highly recommend this set up! The Thrush is 27" total 17" long core 3" diamater,2 1/4 inlet/outlet. Will try to work on the sound clip. I'm not too handy when it comes to posting stuff.

I have a Dynomax muffler because of the price. I will try to post clips. I have a PR CAI, MaximaRacingPipe, and will be installing a WS y-pipe. The sound is not to loud. Has a real nice low deep tone and only gets loud under WOT. You will love the purchase.

I have looked at a magnaflow before but I didn't really feel like spending about $120 on a muffler, but I am just cheap, and I have also heard bad things about them, and a few good things, do you have a sound clip? Thanks

I also have a magnaflow form swa.....I'm running a 2.5" pipe with no resonator to the muffler. Like santino said, the car sounds deep @ 2k. In idle you can't hear much, but when you punch it, it grumbles..push it all the way it sounds like a z28. Trust me, the magnaflow is worth every penny......other exhaust are just too much money..... just my 2 cents

I was running a warpspeed y-pipe with a custom b-pipe w/ resonator and a magnaflow "muffler" (which isn't anything more than a big resonator in itself) and it sounded really mean at idle and slight throttle, but got kinda loud for my taste from 2000-3000rpm. No rice at all, and sounded probably as good as you'll get from our 6cyl. There was noticeable drone on the highway, but it probably would have been better if I had a 5spd.

I have done alittle research about the magnaflow, and I think I am going to go with that one. 14829, is it offset in and center out? or how does it fit? I couldn't find that out. Will the cops get mad if it is too loud? cause I don't wanna get a ticket. I'd like it to be loud too, but ricey don't really want but I can deal with it...I might have said this in one of my earlier posts but I don't know.

Just get them when you can santino. My exhaust is ratting and I am forsure it is in the flange and I took it to a new place called "LA Extreme Customs" and they just kept telling me it is the muffler that is messed up and I know they are wrong but I can't ever get them to work on my car. That was a pointless story. Well I can't find any place to work on my car. Does anyone else have sound clips that can get them in a few days?

Does anyone know how an apexi muffler sounds? I found someone selling one, and thinking about getting it.
