I just put an ACT clutch in my car and everything went smoothly. the problem is that now 1st and 2nd gear don't "pop" into place like they did before. They work fine, but there is no resistance to come out of gear. Not sure how the mechanism works to keep the gear from "moving" out of gear into nuetral, but it isn't working like it did before the clutch replacement (3rd, 4th, and 5th gears work fine still). Any ideas? Something in the linkage? Thanks in advance..
Interesting development. During "cleaning" I found a ball bearing and spring in the bottom of the oilpan I used to drain the tranny fluid when I put in my new clutch / flywheel. Needless to say, I'm guessing this spring and check ball were in the tranny and kept 1st and 2nd gear from sliding out of position.
Since I can't find a diagram, anyone know exactly where these are installed, and if I need to pull the tranny to put them back in?
Unreal.... thanks in advance...

I was going to say "1st/2nd detent ball and spring" until I read your second post to see you already discovered this. I can take a pic for you tomorrow if you want to know where it goes when I'm down at the shop I've got one taken all apart, though if you get under the car it'll be obvious where it goes.
Here I was able to find a diagram in my FSM... not the best but I'm sure you can figure it out from there. It'll be obvious once you're under there.

Excellent ! Thanks all ! I have no idea how the spring and ball would have come out (I didn't take the bolt out when I changed the clutch), but I'm extatic not to have to drop the tranny to reinstall !
