Posers- So Lame

ya know, it's really weird, but last weekend, here in brooklyn i saw not one, not two but three poser SE Limiteds. One had an SEL badge on the fender, not on the door where it should be, another had one on his trunk, and onther kid had them in the right place, but on a car that was obviously a 95/96 looking at th front and rear of the car. I don't understand why one would do this? I mean, I could see pulling off the numbers off the back of a mercedes, but why add a badge that is clearly not supposed to be there. It's not like the SE-Limited is some rediculous vehicle or something- It's not like SEL is the equivelant to AMG or anything . I guess the reason why i am bringing it up is that the kid with the 95/96 with SE-Limited badges I pulled up next to at the light looked at my real SE-L and gave me a look like- "Hey I 'm down with you". I was laughing inside and gave him a brief smirk and was out. Image is everything i guess. So stupid. I mean, doesnt he know that another maxima owner is gonna know he is a poser?

ive never been into that fake badge thing, if anything its better to take them off and let people guess. if i had a 3.5L altima lets say, i might go out and swap for a 2.5L badge....LOL ! but then again i probably wouldnt mess with it and spend the money on a good meal !! ha

yeah, I just say leave well enough alone.
I am with you, Caesar, just go get a good meal rather than wasting the money on some silly badge.

HEY, that was MY car! j/k

I dunno why people like to add fake badges. If I had a 350z, I'd add Fairlady to it but that'd be in tribute to it's heritage.

Why would someone badge a maxima, we all got the same engines? Its absolutly pointless.

I'd understand if it were a "Maxima" badge that was unique/different/interesting/you get the idea. But to say it's a Skyline or to put a 3.5 on your 4th gen would be pretty ridiculous.

I put "SE" basges on mine where the SE-L badges normally are, but Im an SE, so no poser here.

It might be cool to put the 3.5 badge on your 4th gen if you had a 3.5L swap.

I don't see how that is much less horrible than putting SE-L badges on.
I mean, the SE badges still don't go there.

well, lots of things aren't supposed to be where they are... i don't think it matters, if someone wants se-l badges on their SE that's fine with me... their car, their money... you can't just say that it's not supposed to go there or doesn't belong there...

MAXIMA emblems don't belong inside the car...
I30 seats don't belong in a maxima, yet people do it...
5th gen muffler doesn't belong on a 4th gen

WHY do people put 5th gen wheels on 4th gens??? Do they wanna be like the 5th gens? NO! they think it looks better.....

the list goes on. . . . .

True that.
I actually have done one of these, not necessarily for the looks, but I like the looks of it too. I did it for the performance and quietness.
I have a 5th gen muffler on my 4th gen.
I think MaxedOutOfCash has a good point.

5th gen muffler on a 4th gen is not a problem. This is a mechanical/performance call.

And neither do clear corners on your car. They are SUPPOSED to be orange! You must be a poser too!

Or think of all the guys who have turning signal lights on their fender like Jason Sadler's old car, posers posers poser, all of them!

I think the definition of poser is try to be something you are not, or in this case making a car something it is not. I am an SE, I liked how the badge looks there, so I put on an "SE" badge.

Cool, dude. Whatever.
Why don't you read the posts?
I posted that people change their maximas to look like others all the time, just like MaxedOutOfCash was saying.
I also ALREADY said that I have been guilty of doing this with the 5th gen muffler that I put on. It was more for performance, but I did it.

Just read before you try to flame......

Poser n: a person who assumes by a model.

This is nothing, you guys shouldn't be whinning about SE-L badges on a maxima. What the real problems is when a car has badges that don't belong on the car and you can really tell. Like Ford Probes or Mitsubitshi Eclispe with SiR badges on.

See stuff like that is going too far...but an SE-L badge on a Maxima, whatever. It's like the same car anyway, the SE-L is nothing special.

Couple of weeks ago i saw little Del Sol with the metal stickers in front and in the back which said "LEXUS"

And the guy gave me that freakin' look like he was sitting in a real lexus. I started laughing so hard, then pushed the gas and "Lexus" dissapeared in my rear view mirror.

Borra is European Jetta. Maybe he had european edition "Borra". I ve seen those before. In europe, Maxima is Infinity Q30. Our kinds of Maximas is only in US. In Japan they are called Cephiro

BTW, Iraqi police drive Nissan Maximas. Only newer models, 2000-2001. Well, not anymore
