How to eliminate wheel hop????
I get lots of wheel hop with my act and 235's. I tried everything, sliping the clutch , poping it low, as soon as my rpms get to about 4k the dash goes crazy and wheels just hop.
Same thing happens when i shift from first gear to second and its bad.
what eliminates wheel hop?? do poly motor mounts help?
what can i do?
It realy hurts my off the line timing and p!sses me off

I've got the same problem dude....235/45/17's kumho ecsta's with recommended tire pressures in the front and the rear and it's still hops like crazy....I have a nissan oem clutch....no matter how I launch it, I either just sit there and leave smoke or I hop like crazy, or if too low, my engine completey bogs...look around on the boards, there are ways of eliminating wheel hop cheap (most recent ones I heard of were putting the pink erasors in your mounts...tried that, can't fit any in there! then there is the zip tie the front springs with the industrial tensile strength zip ties so the springs don't uncompress that much...I have eibach's and kyb gr2's so I don't believe this is the cause of the problem....then there is the poly mounts or filling them yourself....and lastly, the ratcheting tow strap around your entire engine to your subframe/crossmember...but that would look really ghetto when you pop your hood...) good luck....
when did this terrible wheel hop occur? I noticed greatly after intake, y pipe, cat, b pipe, ecu, mevi, udp, muffler....to much torque I guess and crappy mounts...!

I have tried everything....every rpm and every way of letting the clutch out....if you use to little of rpm's the engine will bog...but everything in between 2K and 4K rpm results in wheel hop...and if I launch higher than that, it get complete spin and a smoky burnout

Higher shock settings and better shocks. I use to wheel hop like mad when I was stock, but now with the Konis, I've never ever had that problem.
I see that both of you that have this problem have GR-2 shocks... coincidence?

no launching has nothing to do with it, i can roll till about 10mph and pin it and still get crazy wheel hop.I have tried every launch possible and noting works.
Some without mods may not know what im talking about but it got worse after getting my b-pipe and underdrive puley.
Is this what polly motor mounts are for??
i think my stock ones may be shoot
And I think the thing about gr-2's isits just a coincidence

get new engine mounts to help remedy this wheel hop problem. Also, I've gone from burning my tires on launches to no burning at all and have noticed a huge difference in launches. Those are the two routes I would use....or buy a car that isn't FWD. Good luck...

Get a RWD car Then you wont be fighting the laws of physics But welcome to the world of torque.
I don't think the GR2's are coincidence... they probably aren't stiff enough, so if they are adjustable, hike up the dampening power! That, or get some wider/stickier tires up front... GL.

gr2's are not adjustable, but they are stiff enough for eibach springs so that isn't the issue, I believe I get clutch chatter and my mounts are the originals 130K miles....maybe I need to try the racheting tow strap thing or filling my mounts myself....is there anything I could do with my mounts still on the car?
p.s. anyone else with gr2's and wide 235 sticky tires experiencing these immense wheel hop problems?

I just tried to beat my friends WRX and exloded into wheel hop. I launched at 2kish and i still have an all stock suspension, with goodyear eagle all season tiers on the stock rims. all I have performance wise is a warp Y, Injen intake.
Since were on the suspension topic what do you guys sugjest for the best spring shock/strut combo? Iam looking for 1 - 1.5 inches of drop and near stock ride comfort.

But it doesn't now after my suspension upgrade, and I'm still on my stock mounts. I'm pretty sure it was the Konis that did it.
Think about it for a second.... wheel hop is when your wheels are jumping off and on the pavement... and what can cure that? Shocks... the one part of your suspension designed to eliminate oscillations in your suspension. Otherwise known as the dreaded "my car is bouncing up and down after I go over bumps" Which is exactly what your wheels are doing when you launch. "Bouncing up and down"
In my opinion, I've always felt that Tokico Blues and GR-2s do NOT have enough dampening for aftermarket springs except maybe the softer ones. And it has been known that GR-2s wear out, even when paired with H&Rs. From what I've observed on this forum, I will stick to my opinion.

I wouldn't do this for regular driving, but letting some of the air out of your tires would help. Those low profile 17's are hard as rocks and if you let some air out they will flex a little bit and keep from breaking loose. This may not solve the problem completely but it's free.

Well, like I said, the easiest way to avoid wheel hop is to not spin the tires.
on the tires. I bought some contiextremes and I have to get the tires spinnin' a lot faster before I get wheel hop. I can't comment on the suspension based on experience, but it makes sense that a better suspension will reduce wheel hop.
IIRC, those poly filled mounts cause excessive vibration. I'd do some research on them before swapping them.
