IDLER adjuster pulley assembly - R&R - HOW-2?

I'm talking about the adjuster pulley for the serpentine belt, of course. . .

Anyone done this one before? A step-by-step would be much appreciated.

(Looks pretty tight up in there).

Thanks in advance,

-K-

Jack the car up on the front-right side,
take off the the tire,
remove the splash guard and use an open ended wrench to loosen the bolt holding the idler pully on to the adjuster. Remember how the bearings and shims are supposed to go in place or else the pulley will not spin freely.

To get the whole assembly out, just loosen the adjusting nut at the top of the assembly until in comes loose.

As above ^^^^^^^.
The adjuster bracket is held on by 3 bolts. After you remove the pulley, they are easily accessible. I think 12mm.

One other quick question. . .

Do you need to do anything to relieve the tension on the belt to get the old pulley off/new pulley on?

(Maybe it's because my idler adjuster is bad, but it doesn't seem like I can loosen the belt tension enough to get the old pulley out, much less a new pulley in).

I was thinking of removing one of the AC compressor mounting bolts and loosening the other, then rotating the AC compressor back - to relieve belt tension. . .

thoughts?

when i loosened the pulley it wouldn't go up either i jus start removing the nut on the pully itself and it went up by itself slowly... I didnt have to lift the car I just turned the wheel...

You shouldn't. You loosen the center nut on the pulley, then loosen the top tensioner. It should be loose enough to remove the belt and then remove the pulley. Like Deezo said, just remember what order the washers and what not go on.
