fog lamp bulbs replaced....HOTT! SAFE?

i just replaced my stock fog light bulbs.....after i installed them they looked awesome....super white....no blue at all....on the package it says 100w....im worried bout my wires frying......after i got home tonite i went up to touch the fog light housing and it was SUPER HOTTTT....i only had them on for about 10 minutes....should i put the old bulbs back in or am i fine the way i am?

i am confused because some bulbs have 2 different wattages on them..but on mine it only said 100w......if u guys are wondering what bulbs i have....i have REDLINE (H3) they sell them at Best Buy....

well let me kno wat u guys think bout this

uh the stock wattage on the h3's are 55w. so um 100w is a lotta wattage. your harness are gonna melt. better take em out before that happens and get some lower wattage ones.

...if i'm not mistaken, those bulbs just tell you that they're 55W but they'll be as bright as 100+ W...thats what i think o.O

my guess is that if it says 100, it means 100, do you want to see what happens if it is 100? no you'll just be sad because you wwont have foglights anymore. my recommendation is to take the bulbs out now while you have a fighting chance.

the reason why some bulbs have two wattages on them is because some bulbs have multiwattage: IE 9004 bulbs have 55/65 one is for low beam and one is for high beam.

harness wont melt because its metal, not plastic like the 9004.. but.. the wire leading to the harness will burn, your lense WILL crack(just hit a puddle driving 60mph which the fogs on for over 50 mins.), u will blind the crap out of everyone and get high beamed all the time.

rguida- he bought aftermarket bulbs.. H3 only use 1 constant wattage. 9004 have 2 filimatents for 2 diff wattages. it says 100 because
1-hes really using 100watts.. which is stupid.
or
2-its a "performance" bulb and says like 85/100 meaning the lights draws 85watt but CLAIMS put out 100watts worth of light.. which is just BS to get u to buy them. a 55 watt bulb will always put out 55 watts of lumens give a take a few. u cant beat physics.

my advice.. dont get any bulbs over 85 wattts. 85 is already pushing it. people have reported crack lenses at 85 watts.

My advice, don't use anything over the stock wattage recommended unless you upgrade stuff. Even then, you run the chance of cracking your very expensive lenses or melting some of your bumper. Not fun.

Just use 55watt bulbs.
They work fine.
