winshield$$$?
If the car is in good shape otherwise- W/S is cheap
I just had my friend's auto glass shop install mine for $175.
He just started this business and offered to do the job for $120 (his cost). It probably sounds trange, but I told him to charge me full price. I want to see his business succeed and it won't if he gives stuff away to friends.
So - you should be able to get one for less than $200.

Rain X?

Re: Rain X?
Well, I used the glass polish from RainX and it did a great job of removing the "hard to clean off" dirt and grime; however, I noticed many scratches when I used my wiper blades after the application of the glass polish. I was extremely disappointed and I think the polish took off the protective coating on the glass (I think).

Does Rain X have any ill effects to the windshield? First time I heard of that one? Thanks.

The previous owner of my car lived in Gulf Shore's Alabama near the ocean. The sand in the air actually took little tiny pieces of glass off of the windshield. When the sun is shining in, you cannot see out because of this. And since I have Liability, All State cough cough will not cover this. Crap. All is good, I get a new front windshield and then tint, hell yeah.
For those who have gotten their windshields replaced, did the place replace it with the OEM or an aftermarket type? I also heard that it's best to install it under warm weather. I want to get mine replaced but I'm afraid that something might go wrong. I saw a 20/20 show about replacing windshields and that the incorrect installation can lead to problems when one is in a car crash. They said that when the airbag is deployed, it can pop or shatter the windshield, not making it very effective.
