Brake Squeel...

I have a '95 GXE, that has persistent brake squeel from light to medium pedal pressure. I have just had the brakes redone at the dealership and they have been torn down twice and checked. At the time when the brakes were being redone, I requested that the shims be replaced. But, they did not have any on hand, so I had them proceed anyway. I have a hunch that the brake squeel is because of bad or aftermarket shims, but could there be any other reason? Also, on courtesyparts.com: "Front Brake Hardware Kit (complete front) 41080-00021 All Models 1995" does this kit include front shims? What else does this kit include? I have e-mail courtesy, but have not gotten a reply yet. Thanks.

They are OEM brake pads which are semi-metallic, if I am not mistaken...

Do you have brake lube between the pad and shim?

If my memory serves me right you should recieve the shims for the back of the pads and replacement "tracks" for the pads to slide on (gold in color). You should get grease with it also.

MAXRB8: I was assured by the dealer twice that this was done. I do trust the dealer (and the tech who did the work)

deezo: Thanks for the info

Well, I'll go back to the dealer and complain and see if they will install new shims if I bring 'em to them...

Thanks for everyone's input...

Mine sqeak like a mother too, and I put new brembo d/s rotor's front, slotted rears with organic pads. I have to change a rear caliper but dunno its annoying as ****. the freaking pads that I had in there didnt sqeak but rotors were warped so I replaced the pads at the same time. My boy told me to bend the shims a lil to get the pads to fit as tight as posible... pads didnt come with any lube/silicon/grease so i dunno bout that.
