Ive had my 96 se 5spd for about 2 1/2 weeks now and i love it but when i try to churp it into second all it does is slips...i can do it on this VW Jetta 5 spd that i used to drive that why im confused...the guy i bought i off of said he got a new clutch at 75 and i have 85 on it now...it grabs fine on regualr driving conditions but its prob the WRONG CLUTCH in there...

Maybe the previous owner really did put in a new clutch at 75K. Maybe he also liked to "churp it into second" and that clutch is already showing wear from mistreatment. This abusive driving practice will result in early clutch failure.

I have only done this on accident. . . The couple times I have tried to do this on purpose I have never been able to do it. . .I think it depends on the shift point as the car tends to lose power close to the redline. . .
