suspension clunks
I have brand new KYB GR2's all around with new KYB front strut mounts and rear strut mounts.
Now . . . . when i first move after parking the car it seems like the front end shifts alittle. Like ball joints popping into place but it isn't the ball joints i already checked.
From the back end when i drive there is some major cracking sound ( sounds like when you burn wood) and when i back-up it sounds like some metal rod snapping.
Anyone have any clue on this?
I have already done an allignment so that is not a problem.

since you have aftermarket strut mounts thats the first place I would look. Its simple just have a buddy jounce( bounce car up and down) while you have your hand right on the mount. If you feel any tiking or clunking its the mount.

Also check CV joints. If there is a rip in the boot, chances are you need new CV joints. I also have not heard good things about KYB strut mounts. I recently had the struts done, and the same problem happened to me. The mechanic that did it said he had the bearing plate mounted backwards.

thanks guys . . . .
i am going to visit the dealership first thing monday morning and find out how much the OEM strut mounts will run me.
i have stock SE coils so them rubbing i did not consider but i will check it out.
i checked the bearing plates at the back and they looked rusted out. I might buy new ones. they could be causing the snapping and cracking sound i hear.
