gasoline odor

My 1995 Maxima has a strong gasoline odor at the rear of the car. I can find no leaks. Gas cap is on o.k. The odor disappears as the car cools off. Any ideas?

Any idea what's causing it? This is a recent development. Is it running too rich?

I had this problem in my third gen.

First off, there are vents on the outside of your car, near the spare tire well. Next to muffler and on the opposite side. These vents lead into your trunk.

In my case, my feul line was rusted, and had a tiny pinhole which let some gas vapor out once in a while.

This stank up the back of my car for a while.
No big problem though.
