OK here's my question:

I changed my plugs back when my car had 48K and used
cheap plugs (non platinum). Now that my car has 100k,
I'm thinking about new plugs again ad have more
spending cash. DO platinum plugs offer any
performance increases over the 75 cent plugs? Or is
the only difference the longevity of the plugs' life?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would stay with the NGK Platinums. I went with Bosch Platinum +4 at my first plug change and they SUCKED! I went back to the platinum plugs and I could really feel the difference. After I changed them, I felt much better about having to pay $11 a plug. Pricey, but worth it when you see feel what a difference it makes. This is just my experience with the platinums.

Well think about it logically. Which would have better quality? 75 cents or 11 bucks?

I didn't price the NGK's when I changed plugs. I went straight to the Bosch's. I fell victim to good advertising ploys. I thought, "Well they look cool and they cost a lot, they must be really good!" They cost me like $3 or $4 a piece. I think Bosch saw me coming. Someone else said it best awhile back when they said, "Nissan probably new what they were doing when they chose to put $11 plugs in their engines." I'm a believer.

I was also a victim. I installed them in my Stanza last summer and they were taken out in February. The problems I had were bad idling, poor gas mileage, and sluggish accleration. I took them out and the plugs were black.

Then I went back to the stock NGK's. My car immediately performed better. Idling was better, gas mileage went back to the way it was, and accleration was smoother. I will never be fooled again.

OE parts cheap.

I just did a 60k service, and saw where somebody here purchased a bunch of stuff from a dealer at a good price. I called, and was offered the parts at the same cheap price.

Genuine Nissan Oil Filters $4.37
Original Equiptment NGK's $8.xx (all 6 were $49.xx)

I also bought both belts, one was $6.xx, the other $12.xx. I can't remember the exact prices to the penny on the plugs and belts, but this is close.

I bought 5 oil filters, both belts, and 6 plugs, and the bill with shipping was $99.xx

I can't remember the name of the place offhand, but somebody might. Great deals on Nissan parts.

Good Luck!
