Jack me up!!!

Does the Maxima have a place that you can jack it up with a 2 1/2 ton jack from the middle front of the car?

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but the rear axle/"the beam" and the bar that runs along the length of the car under the engine.

If you look at under the front of the car - you will see a brace that runs fron to back from near the radaitor to the firewall.. this can be used as a single jacking point for the front of the vehicle.

I am not sure if the rear axle/beam is an appropriate jacking point for the rear.. maybe someone else can confirm whether or not that is true.

I use those points all the time and nothing bad so far. I've jacked it up at least 200 times from the front and 40 from the back. From the shape of the engine suport it looks like Nissan designed it to be the intended jack point for DIY'ers. It also acts as a nice bumper when going over steep driveways. Usually this point hits before the bumper unless your going really fast and then your just a complete moron.

Thanks for the pic... can I take this thread one step further and ask where to use jackstands? I usually use the 4 points marked along the sides of the car in the pictures above... thats what made sense to me - but unless I use the center (front or back) jacking points to jack up the car, I'm always competing for space between the jack stands and jack along the reinforced edge jacking points...(hope that makes sense).

"Garage Jack Points" = the place to use the jack to jack up your car
4 center circles = place to put the stands

njmodi, I have no idea what you said in the last part

How do people jack it up using the rear beam. The thing is a hollow pipe cut in half. Only way I feel safe jacking it up that way is if I use a block of wood or something so that it lifts using both the edges.

I used the rear beam before I installed my RSB. The Addco makes it impossible to use the beam to jack up the car. The beam flexed a little - very scary at first - but me and the car are still here. My front jack points look like the metal is splitting so I try to use ramps whenever possible... I wonder if that's a problem...

Never mind - your post clears things up for me... my problem was that sometimes I jack up the car using the 4 center-circles, and then I don't have a good spot to put a jackstand - since the jack is already using the reinforced edge.. hope that makes better sense... but now I know better, and always use the center jacking points to lift the car and then use the side reinforced points to place the car on the jack stands.
