Help! Looking to buy a maxima

i have been pretty set on getting a 98 or 99 se. I just found a 97 se that seems to be in pretty good shape. Is there any reason I shouldn't go with 97?

I'd get a 97 before a 98 if you plan on modding it extensively.

Big D is right.
They are more easily modded than the 98 or 99.
Trust me, I have a 99.
Give us some details on it and we can tell you what we think.

Why are 97's easier to mod than 98 or 99?

You can get an ECU from a 96 to work with many 97 without getting any trouble codes. The other 97-99 use a different board for the ECU and aren't as compatible.

What production date is needed for the ECU swap. To have zero problems.
