Replaced Alt., Battery light still on

As it says, I replaced my alternator and my battery light is still on. Its really dim most of the time but everyonce in a while it gets brighter. My belt is tense and all the connections are good. Could the bad alt have drained my battery that much? Just wondering if anyone knew if this was something I should be worried about, and how I might be able to fix it.
Thanks.

Well, I switched out that fuse and now my tail lights, interior lights and marker lights work again...But my battery light is still on. I'm going to buy all new fuses tomorrow and see how that works. Thanks though man, now I don't need to worry about trying that damned combination switch.

We got it. THe fuse that was bad didn't look like it was, but upon further inspection it had a black spot on it. All this time and it was one fuse...Thanks for your help man...I really appreciate it.
