better filter than magnaflow?

I took the magnaflow filter off my intake yesterday and found small particles of dirt inside the midpipe. Its been on the car for 6-7k miles and I was looking at Green filters, K&n, I have a cleaning kit for K&N's but would it work on green filters? Should I keep the magnaflow and clean/reoil it?

If you want to try something really different you could go with Apexi. It is supposed to filter very well, flow more air than others, but isn't reuseable (30k mi lifespan).
