CF hood options??

I'm just wondering what companies / brands of carbon fiber hoods are available for the maximas.... specifically the 4th gen, but I'd also like to know for 3rd and 5th too.

thanks guys... i'll do my own search for reviews once I can get an idea of what brands to look for.

hmm... well, on Monday, i'll let you know how much an Aerogear hood weighs. I'm getting their first production model... but I really doubt it will be that light.

so GTP / redlinemax / custommaxima sell the same hood?

Hmm so there are like 2 really different hoods out on the market at this point?

Are you sure that redlinemax and GTP sell the same hoods?

Unless Ange's Distributor has changed I believe this is incorrect.

Hmm...maybe she changed distributors because her original hoods weighed in around 27lbs and I don't believe they were rolled edges. I am not trying to imply anything especially since Ange and I are friends.

Unless she changed vendors, they are not the same.
She did recieve a small amount of the "GTP" hoods but the majority of her hoods were different, no rolled edges, different latch assembly.
Be carefull of the Redline hoods, many have had issues with their fitment and quality of their finish. Ceaser was one member and Im crossing my fingers.

OKAY i got the hood.. it's sweet!

It's perfect fitment... it has all the holes necessary for mounting the hood on and for the hood struts.

The hood weighs around 15lb!!! I'm not sure about the exact weight but he said he'll get me specs within a month... they have to make changes to the latch system. The opening on the latch is smaller than required so they had to drill alot.

The latch IS made of metal...

It also has a clearcoat layer on it, but he recommended I add an additional coat. I might do t hat, but for now, I am going to put layers of NXT Wax (highest UV rated wax i have right now).

Damnit, I took pictures, but I forgot to bring my CF reader. I will post them when I get home from work... that's like 4-5 hours from now. I'll reply to this thread and post a link to the new pictures thread that I made.

Oh yeah, aerogear wants to make 2 new kits for the maxima as well as a wing.

okay, more to come soon!

If I were you I would not use the hood struts if they are in good working condition. They are meant to support the weight of the OEM hood and are WAY to strong for the CF hood. If you install them and try to close the hood the resistance is most likely going to crack your pretty new hood.
But, you dont have to take my word for it.
