my 99 max has 102,000 miles on it and i was wondering if it was wise to do engine mods to an engine with so many miles...? Also, are there any engines out there that can be interchanged with a 99 max?

 

ha, 102 is nothing! there are members on here who mod well over 150k and don't think twice. you can pick up a vq from 95-99's cheap. i don't think much changes, maybe a few sensors but nothing major. don't sweat 102 at all, consider it just broken in as long as you've maitained it.

 

Hah, dont worry I have 238k and it still runs great!

 

Bolt ons like intake,exhaust, shouldn't be a problem for any engine, pretty much regardless of mileage. But if you're doing heavy mods like FI on the other hand, those mods do increase stress considerably.

 

awesome, thanks guys. but where can i find vq engines for sale? are they brand new or overhauled? i am also thinking about strapping a v2 supercharger on in the near future.. so how many more miles can i expect on my 102,000 mile engine with a supercharger installed?
