Loweiring spring installation - FAILED... help?

My brother and dad and I attempted to install my KYB struts and Progress Springs today. Well we got as far as taking off the tires, disconnecting the brakes, taking out the top 3 strut mounts - but none of us could take off the two lower nuts on the control arm. These are the ones that are 19mm on one side and 17mm on the other. From all the feedback and reviews it seems like nobody has had a problem with these, but we found them impossible to take off. We tried using a Liquid Wrench and a breaker bar, I pulled so hard I broke my 17mm socket! I'm not sure how to get these off - aside from having a shop loosen and retighten them for me.

Does anyone have any recommendations or general feedback about these two bolts? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Get some sockets made for impact wrenches and a bigger breaker bar... I got mine off just fine.

Or if ur using a floor jack, use the handle and put it on the end of ur breaker bar... leverage is your best friend

IMO Liquid wrench sucks ***. Get some of that PB stuff..

hehe I think we had TOO much leverage. We used a 6' steel pipe on the end of the breaker bar, and there was so much pressure it cracked the socket.

The impact wrench sockets might help - I take it theyre made for higher torque?

When you remove those, you're supposed to push up on the ratchet to remove the nut not the bolt. I'm surprised as that was the easiest part of the install for me.

youre supposed to take off the 2 bolts. not the nuts. try it again on the bolts. use the breaker bar. remember: righty tighty, lefty loosey. i thought i had to take it to a shop to get mine off but all we needed was leverage. it was on there pretty tight but we got it off and saved myself a lotta money.

^NO. You take the nut OFF the bolt then slide the bolt out. Either way it's the same thing

It's much easier to loosen the nut side rather than the bolt side. I have broke an impact socket trying to remove the bolt side.

That is so weird, when i went to change my half shafts on my car, I had to take those bolts out, and i had no problems removing them. Try this have one ratchet turning one way and have the other ratchet on the other bolt turning the other way. The weird thing is that I my tire iron almost fit perfectly on one of the bolts and i had my ratchet removing the other end....call me lazy, but it came off quite easily.
