KYB GR2 and Maxspeed owners

Please comment on your suspension setup. Do you like it? Do you hate it? Knowing what you know now, would you buy the same setup? I'm most interested in the quality of the shocks. Thanks.

i have maxspeed with tokico HP in the front, kyb agx in the rear. i believe HPs have similar ride quality as GR2s, and i have my setting on 4 on kyb agx in the back...which is the same setting as GR2s. overall the ride is firm, but it gets harsh at bumpy roads. since my headunit, dvd player, and microscreen never skips over harsh rode...i consider this setup is fairly soft compare to other aftermarket suspension. (ie. skunk2 coilover + koni yellow. eibach on agx)

I have the same set up and I just put it on myself, I like the shocks, they're fine, but I think I made a mistake on the springs. Somehow on the top part of the Maxspeeds, in the front, they make noise on bumps because they touch when compressed. It's really annoying. I'm thinking of putting rubber insulators over the spring but we'll see how that works, my gues is it'll rip apart in a few days.

NYC, you need to get some OEM Spring Isolators from Nissan. They're made to take that kind of punishment for years.

THT, I've had the maxspeed/gr2 setup for about 2 years now. The ride has been firm but livable. Gotta give up a little comfort for better handling.
Could have something to do with me not cutting the bumpstops off in the beginning too. Just been too lazy to take everything apart and be forced to get another alignment.

If I had to do it again, I'd probably get a different set of springs. After 2 years, the maxspeeds have really begun to rust on the surface. Let's just say, they're not yellow anymore.

I don't mind the harsh/rough ride at all, I actually like it, but the noise is annoying. Yeah I will go get the insulators from nissan eventually and see if that cuts the noise.
I could see how can they get rusty, where the springs touch now the paint is all gone and I wouldn't doubt it if gets rusty in a couple of month. Sometimes you get what you pay for (maybe all the time )

Thanks for the input, guys. I think I'm going to get a different set of springs. Anyone know anything about the Tokico springs with the same drop as the Maxspeeds?

Does them rusting really hurt anything?
Does it make them louder?

I think the rust will eventually penetrate the spring and the spring will lose its coil strength/ability to return to its original size/height - know what I am trying to say? eventally, if the rust gets deep enough, the spring can break if you go over a bad bump...

I haven't noticed any change in the ride quality. They'll probably last a few more years without any problems. IF I keep the car that long.
