Can a ametuer fix a knock and o2 sensor ?
This weekend I did a self diagnostic because my service engine light was on I got back error code 03-04 (Knock Sensor) and error code 05-03 (right front heated O2 sensor) are these repairs that amateur can do and if so where can i find the parts for cheap? also is there any instructions on these repairs anywhere? **97se**

Yes, they're a DIY job. Usually, the O2 sensor will cause the KS code so replace that one first and reset your ECU. KS won't trip a CEL so you'll have to check the ECU manually. You can get the O2 sensor from www.oxygensensors.com and you can get the KS from www.jerryromenisan.com (use promo code "MAXIMA" to get an additional discount). Check the How To sticky for directions to replace these parts.

The second link does not work but thanks for the info..will a bad o2 sensor affect my preformance? i have ready noticed a decrease in preformace in lower gears and in 5th i get a slight studder in the axceleration. I have heard that a replaced knock sensor helps with preformance, but is the same true of a o2 sensor?

the second link: www.jerryromenissan.com... A bad o2 sensor may impact performance and mileage... some people have replaced their knock sensors even though the ECU doesn't report it as bad - and noticed better performance.. if you have near 100k on your car, this might be something to consider.
The oxygen sensor is the easier and cheaper of the two parts to replace - so thats where you should start.
